About this service
What soil removal bristol actually looks like.
Soil is the most common thing I take off Bristol gardens after a landscaping or patio job. It’s heavy, the council won’t take it, and most landscapers bill you extra for removal they don’t actually do. I take loose piles or bagged soil, load it into the van, and take it to a licensed tip that accepts inert waste. Volume-priced — but soil fills a van faster than lighter waste, so I’ll quote honestly on what a load actually looks like. No VAT, no call-out.
Soil is heavier than it looks
A cubic metre of soil is around 1.5–1.8 tonnes. A 6-yard van of soil is a ton-and-a-half at minimum, which is the van’s working payload. That means for big excavations I’ll either do multiple runs or recommend you book a grab-hire truck instead (they lift bigger volumes in one go and win on cost for 10-tonne+ jobs). For a few bags up to about 4m³, a van is the right tool.
Clean, mixed or contaminated
Clean garden soil disposes as inert waste (cheapest). Soil mixed with rubble, turf or plant matter goes as mixed waste (still fine, slightly higher tip fee). Contaminated soil (oil, chemicals, waste from industrial sites) needs testing and routing separately — I don’t take it without paperwork, and honestly that’s a specialist-waste company’s job, not mine.

Waste is carried away under our UK registered waste carrier licence (CBDU445737), so items taken off your property go to a licensed facility rather than a side street.

Frequently asked
Soil Removal Bristol— common questions.
How much soil can a van take?
Payload limit matters more than cube — around 1 to 1.5 tonnes per load. For bigger volumes I’ll do multiple runs or suggest grab hire.
How much does soil removal in Bristol cost?
£150 for 2 yards of soil (around a ton), £290 for 6 yards. Volumes beyond that are usually better done with grab hire — I’ll tell you honestly.
Do you take contaminated soil?
No — specialist waste only. If it’s come from an industrial site or has oil in it, call a specialist waste company.
